What a great turnout it was this morning at our 100 CEOs Report Presentation Breakfast by Westpac!
A total of 190 participants from 29 POMCCI member companies gathered at The Hilton Hotel, Port Moresby, for the official release of the 2025 PNG 100 CEO Survey Results—Papua New Guinea’s annual pulse-check on business confidence.
The survey—delivered by Westpac’s Senior Economist, Justin Smirk—revealed a rebound in business sentiment despite persistent challenges in the operating environment. Among the key highlights:
- 2024 profits exceeded expectations for 40% of CEOs, with another 30% meeting targets—marking a significant improvement from last year.
- 65% of CEOs expect higher profits in 2025, with increasing capital expenditure and steady recruitment plans indicating growing confidence.
- Foreign Exchange (forex) remains the biggest challenge, followed by law & order and unreliable utilities. However, there was a noticeable easing in the impact of these impediments compared to last year.
- PNG is well-positioned to benefit from robust global commodity prices.
